PN25 GF reinforced PPR pipe (SDR 6)
The PP-R and glass fibre middle layer keeps thermal elongation low, so the pipe holds its line and shape under high temperatures and sudden pressure surges. This makes it suitable for heating circuits as well as hot and cold water, at an operating temperature of 70 °C and a maximum of 95 °C.

Description and application
The PPR pipe PN25 from the THERMALINO Eternal line is a glass fibre reinforced PP-R pipe, SDR 6, for heating systems and hot and cold water lines, joined by socket fusion. Its glass fibre middle layer keeps thermal expansion low and holds the pipe's shape under pressure surges and high temperatures, in sizes from Ø20 to Ø110 mm.
The PN25 glass fibre reinforced PPR pipe is a three-layer pressure pipe made of PP-R, with a middle layer of PP-R mixed with glass fibre. It has the SDR 6 wall ratio and nominal pressure class PN25, and conforms to TS 13715. It comes in 4 m lengths from Ø20x3.4 to Ø110x18.3 mm, in white. The glass fibre layer is what sets the pipe's behaviour in service. It keeps thermal elongation low, so long runs carrying hot water stay straight, and the pipe does not ripple or lose its shape under sudden pressure rises or high temperatures. For this reason it is mainly used in heating systems, and it is equally suited to hot and cold water supply. The operating temperature is 70 °C and the maximum temperature is 95 °C. Allowable pressures at each temperature and service life values are given in the technical data sheet. Typical systems are radiator heating circuits, boiler room connections, domestic hot and cold water distribution and the risers of multi-storey residential and commercial buildings, where the higher pressure class is useful in the lower floors. The pipe is joined by socket fusion with PP-R fittings: the pipe end and the fitting socket are heated together on a fusion tool and pushed together, forming a single homogeneous joint without solder, adhesive or threads. Installers should follow the heating times and support spacing for each diameter given in the technical data sheet.

Questions
- Is a PPR pipe PN25 with glass fibre reinforcement suited to high-pressure hot and cold water risers in a tall residential building?
- The THERMALINO PPR pipe PN25 is suited to high-pressure risers in tall buildings, because it has the PN25 pressure class and an SDR 6 wall. Its glass fibre middle layer keeps thermal expansion low and stops the pipe from deforming under pressure surges, which matters in long vertical hot water runs. The operating temperature is 70 °C, with a maximum of 95 °C; the allowable pressure at each temperature is in the technical data sheet, and the system designer should check it against the static pressure at the lowest floor.
- For the hot and cold water system of a high-rise building, is PPR pipe PN25 or copper pipe the better choice?
- A glass fibre reinforced PPR pipe PN25 is a strong choice for high-rise hot and cold water systems where the design stays within 95 °C, because it combines the PN25 pressure class with low thermal expansion. PP-R is a plastic that does not rust, and it is joined by socket fusion into homogeneous joints without soldering or flames on site. Copper remains the material for temperatures above the PP-R limit; within the 70 °C operating and 95 °C maximum temperature, the choice is usually made on the project specification and local regulations.
- What does PN25 mean on a PPR pipe, and how does a PN25 pipe differ from a PN20 PPR pipe?
- PN25 on a PPR pipe is the nominal pressure class, and a PN25 pipe has a thicker wall in relation to its diameter than a PN20 pipe of the same size. The THERMALINO PN25 pipe has an SDR 6 wall, for example 4.2 mm on the Ø25 size, which gives it a higher pressure resistance. The pressure a PP-R pipe can carry falls as the temperature rises, so the allowable pressure at your working temperature should be read from the table in the technical data sheet.
- Why use a glass fibre reinforced PPR pipe PN25 for radiator heating circuits running at around 70 °C?
- A glass fibre reinforced PPR pipe PN25 is used for radiator heating because its glass fibre middle layer keeps thermal elongation low at heating temperatures. Low elongation means exposed runs stay straight and put less stress on fittings and supports, and the pipe keeps its shape under high temperatures and pressure surges. The operating temperature is 70 °C and the maximum temperature 95 °C.
- What are the outside diameter and wall thickness of a 25 mm PN25 glass fibre PPR pipe?
- The 25 mm PN25 glass fibre PPR pipe has an outside diameter of 25 mm and a wall thickness of 4.2 mm, supplied in 4 m lengths. PPR pipes are named by outside diameter, so a Ø25 pipe takes Ø25 socket fusion fittings. The range runs from Ø20x3.4 to Ø110x18.3 mm, all SDR 6.
