PPR Ball valve mini with butterfly handle
Nominal pressure is PN25, the operating temperature is 70 °C and the maximum temperature is 95 °C, so the valve can go on hot water and heating lines as well as cold water. The permissible pressure at a given temperature and service life is listed in the technical data sheet.

Description and application
The PPR mini ball valve with butterfly handle is a quarter-turn shut-off valve for Ø20 and Ø25 PP-R pipework. It is joined by socket fusion and has a compact butterfly handle that turns in tight spaces where a lever handle has no room.
The PPR mini ball valve with butterfly handle opens and closes the water in a PP-R installation with a 90-degree turn. It belongs to the Eternal line and comes in Ø20 and Ø25, in White Red and White Blue versions. The short butterfly handle needs much less turning room than a lever, so you can fit the valve under sinks, inside cabinets, behind access panels and close to walls. The body is PP-R and the ball and insert are CW617N brass. Apart from the ball, the parts in contact with water are PP-R. PTFE sealing elements seat against the ball, so the valve shuts off reliably at high line pressure and keeps sealing through repeated opening and closing. The valve is made to EN ISO 16135, with nominal pressure PN25. You can use this valve on hot and cold drinking water lines, on heating circuits and for isolating branch lines, fixtures and appliances in homes, hotels, hospitals and commercial buildings. It is joined to PP-R pipe by socket fusion. The pipe end and the valve socket are heated together on a fusion tool and pushed together, so pipe and valve become one solid piece with no threads or sealant. An installer with the proper fusion equipment makes the joints, following the heating and cooling times for each diameter. Pressure ratings by temperature and service life are in the technical data sheet.

Questions
- What is the handle on a ball valve called, and why does this PPR mini ball valve have a butterfly handle?
- The handle on a ball valve is usually a lever handle, and the PPR mini ball valve has a butterfly handle (also called a wing handle) because it needs much less room to turn. Both types open and close the valve with a quarter turn of 90 degrees. The butterfly handle is the right choice where pipes sit in a tight corner, a narrow cabinet or close to a wall, and a long lever would hit something before the valve is fully closed.
- Can the PPR mini ball valve with butterfly handle be used on hot water and central heating lines in a residential building?
- Yes, the PPR mini ball valve with butterfly handle can be used on both hot water and central heating lines, as well as cold water. It is rated PN25, with an operating temperature of 70 °C and a maximum temperature of 95 °C. The permissible pressure falls as the temperature and service life go up, so check the full pressure and temperature table in the technical data sheet when sizing a heating line.
- How is the PPR mini ball valve installed on a Ø20 or Ø25 PP-R pipe, and does it need threaded adapters?
- The PPR mini ball valve is installed by socket fusion, so it needs no threaded adapters, sealant or tape. The valve comes in Ø20 and Ø25. The installer heats the pipe end and the valve socket together on a PP-R fusion tool, pushes the pipe into the socket without twisting, and lets the joint cool undisturbed. Pipe and valve then form one continuous piece. Use the heating, joining and cooling times given for each diameter.
- What are the ball and seals made of in a PPR ball valve used on a drinking water line in an apartment building?
- In the THERMALINO PPR mini ball valve, the ball and insert are CW617N brass and the seals are PTFE. Apart from the ball, the parts in contact with water are PP-R. The PTFE sealing elements press against the brass ball, so the valve shuts off reliably at high line pressure and keeps sealing through repeated opening and closing. The valve is made to EN ISO 16135.
- How can a plumber tell whether a ball valve with a butterfly handle is open or closed in a tight installation?
- A ball valve such as the PPR mini ball valve with butterfly handle is open or closed according to the quarter-turn position of its handle. The 90-degree turn swings the bore of the ball either in line with the pipe, so water flows, or across it, so the line is shut. On ball valves, the handle normally lies along the pipe when open and across the pipe when closed. Check the marking on the valve before relying on the handle position.
