PPR Built-in chrome valve
The handwheel drives a spindle that moves up and down, so the valve can be set part-open to adjust the flow to a bathroom or kitchen, or closed fully to isolate it. In the closed position, the spindle presses on the seat at the base of the T-shaped body and stops the flow.

Description and application
The THERMALINO PPR chrome valve is a built-in stop valve with a PP-R body that is fused into the pipework and concealed in the wall, leaving only a chrome cover and handwheel on show. It shuts off or regulates hot and cold water to a bathroom, kitchen or apartment. It is rated PN25 and comes in Ø20, Ø25 and Ø32.
The PPR Built-in chrome valve is a concealed stop valve for PP-R water installations, part of the Eternal line. Its PP-R body is fused into the pipework and stays inside the wall. The handwheel and spindle sit inside chrome trim on the finished wall surface, so the valve stays usable without spoiling the look of a tiled bathroom or kitchen. The body is made of prime-grade polypropylene random copolymer (PP-R, type 3), which fuses with THERMALINO PP-R pipes and fittings and gives the joint a long service life. The insert is CW617N brass, a European brass grade with lead content below 2.2%. The valve is rated PN25, with an operating temperature of 70 °C and a maximum of 95 °C, so it can be fitted on both hot and cold water lines. Pressure ratings at higher temperatures are given in the technical data sheet. The valve works by a spindle that moves up and down as the handwheel is turned. When fully closed, the spindle presses on the seat at the base of the T-shaped body and stops the flow. In between, the flow can be throttled. This allows the installer to set the supply to a room as well as isolate it for maintenance or repair. The PPR chrome valve is joined by socket fusion to PP-R pipe of the same diameter: Ø20, Ø25 or Ø32. The PP-R body comes in white, grey or green. It is usually fitted at the water inlet of a bathroom, kitchen or apartment, where the supply must be easy to shut off and the valve must look good.

Questions
- Can a PPR chrome valve be used on the hot water line feeding a bathroom, or is it meant only for the cold water supply?
- The THERMALINO PPR chrome valve can be used on both hot and cold water lines. It is rated PN25, with an operating temperature of 70 °C and a maximum temperature of 95 °C. The pressure it allows at a given temperature is listed in the technical data sheet, which should be checked against the conditions on site.
- How is a built-in PPR chrome valve joined to the PP-R pipework when it is installed inside a tiled bathroom wall?
- The PPR built-in chrome valve is joined by socket fusion to PP-R pipe of the same diameter, Ø20, Ø25 or Ø32, using a standard PP-R fusion tool. The body is set in the wall at the correct depth so that only the chrome cover and handwheel show on the finished surface. A qualified installer should pressure-test the line before the wall is closed.
- Can a PPR chrome valve be used to reduce the water flow to a shower or basin, or does it only open and close?
- The PPR chrome valve regulates the flow as well as shutting it off, because its handwheel drives a spindle that moves up and down inside the body. Opening it part-way throttles the supply. Closing it fully presses the spindle onto the seat at the base of the T-shaped body and stops the water.
- What is the difference between a PPR built-in chrome valve and a standard PPR stop valve fitted at a bathroom inlet?
- A PPR built-in chrome valve works in the same way as a PPR stop valve, but its handwheel and spindle sit inside chrome trim, so it has a finished look on a tiled wall. The PP-R body is concealed in the wall in both cases. The chrome version is chosen where the valve stays visible in a bathroom or kitchen.
- What is the chrome valve on a bathroom wall for, and when should it be used during a plumbing repair?
- The chrome valve on a bathroom wall is a built-in shut-off valve: closing it cuts the water supply to that room so that taps, mixers or pipework can be repaired without isolating the whole building. If the valve does not close fully or water seeps around the handwheel, the PP-R body is fused into the wall, so a qualified installer should inspect and repair it.
