PPR Elbow 45° f/f

Female sockets on both ends: welds directly onto pipe

Both ends of this elbow are female sockets, so a PP-R pipe end is socket-fused straight into each side. To connect it to another fitting, weld a short length of pipe between the two.

Description and application

The PPR 45 degree elbow f/f from the Eternal line changes the direction of a PP-R line by 45° and has a female socket on each end for socket fusion onto the pipe. It is rated PN25 to EN ISO 15874-3 for hot and cold water systems, in sizes Ø20 to Ø63.

The PPR 45 degree elbow f/f is a socket fusion fitting from the THERMALINO Eternal line. It turns a PP-R pipeline through 45° and is used in pairs to offset a line, for example to take a pipe over or around another pipe that crosses its path where there is no room for a bend. Because both ends are female sockets, the pipe is welded straight into each side with no threads or seals. The elbow is made from prime-grade PP-R, a polypropylene random copolymer (type 3), and conforms to EN ISO 15874-3, the standard for polypropylene fittings in hot and cold water installations. It is rated PN25, with an operating temperature of 70 °C and a maximum of 95 °C. That rating covers both domestic hot and cold water and heating circuits. It welds cleanly onto THERMALINO PP-R pipe, so the joint and the pipe become one homogeneous material for a long service life. Pressure ratings at other temperatures and the service life tables are in the technical data sheet. The fitting is joined by socket fusion. Cut the pipe square, clean it, mark the socket depth, then heat the pipe end and the elbow socket together on a fusion welder with the right size of heating bush. Push the pipe in straight, without twisting, and hold it still while the joint cools. It comes in Ø20, Ø25, Ø32, Ø40, Ø50 and Ø63, in white, grey and green, so it can match the colour of the pipe line on site.

Where it is used
  • Hot and cold drinking water distribution in residential buildings
  • Central heating and radiator circuits within the rated temperature
  • Hotels, hospitals, schools and office buildings
  • Offsets around crossing pipes, ducts and structural elements
  • Cooling and chilled water lines
  • Irrigation and agricultural water supply
  • Industrial and process water lines, subject to the chemical resistance table in the technical data sheet
  • Compressed air lines, only where the pressure, temperature and medium are confirmed suitable in the technical data sheet

Questions

What is a PPR 45 degree elbow used for in a plumbing line, and when do installers choose it instead of a 90° elbow?
A PPR 45 degree elbow changes the direction of a PP-R line by 45°, giving a gentler turn than a 90° elbow. Installers often use two of them together to offset a line, for example to take the pipe over or around another pipe that crosses its path where there is no room for a bend. The THERMALINO elbow has female sockets on both ends and is welded directly onto the pipe.
How is a PPR 45 degree elbow f/f joined to PP-R pipe on a hot and cold water installation?
The PPR 45 degree elbow f/f is joined by socket fusion: the pipe end and the elbow socket are heated together on a fusion welder and then pushed together. Cut the pipe square, clean it and mark the socket depth, use the heating bush that matches the pipe size, push the pipe in straight without twisting, and hold it still while it cools. Both ends are female sockets, so each side takes a pipe end directly.
Can the PPR 45° elbow be used on central heating and domestic hot water lines in a residential building?
Yes, the THERMALINO PPR 45° elbow is rated PN25 to EN ISO 15874-3, which covers hot water and heating service. Its operating temperature is 70 °C and its maximum is 95 °C. The pressure it may carry depends on the temperature and the service life required, and the full table is in the technical data sheet.
Which PPR 45 degree elbow size do I need for a 3/4 inch PPR pipe in a domestic water supply?
In the usual trade naming, a 3/4 inch PPR pipe is Ø25 mm outside diameter, so it takes the Ø25 PPR 45 degree elbow. PP-R fittings are sized by the pipe's outside diameter. The THERMALINO elbow comes in Ø20, Ø25, Ø32, Ø40, Ø50 and Ø63.
Is the THERMALINO PPR 45 degree elbow compatible with THERMALINO PP-R pipes for socket fusion welding?
Yes, the THERMALINO PPR 45 degree elbow is made from prime-grade PP-R copolymer (type 3) and is designed to weld fully with THERMALINO PP-R pipes. The fused joint becomes a single homogeneous material, which gives the line a long service life. The elbow comes in white, grey and green to match the pipe line.
