PPR Female adaptor
The brass insert has a female BSP parallel (G) thread. It takes male BSP-threaded valves, taps, meters and fittings of the matching size. It is not made for American NPT (FIP/MIP) male threads, which have a different thread form, so an NPT part needs a suitable thread adaptor.

Description and application
The THERMALINO PPR female adaptor joins to a PP-R pipe by socket fusion on one side and has a female BSP parallel (G) thread in a CW617N brass insert on the other, so a PP-R line can connect to taps, valves, meters and other male-threaded metal parts. It is rated PN25 to EN ISO 15874-3 for hot and cold water, with an operating temperature of 70 °C and a maximum of 95 °C.
The PPR female adaptor from the THERMALINO Eternal line is a transition fitting between a PP-R pipeline and threaded metal parts. One end is a socket that fuses to the pipe. The other end is a brass insert with a female BSP parallel thread, also known as gas thread (G). Installers often call this kind of fitting a PPR coupling with thread. It comes in six combinations: Ø20 × 1/2", Ø20 × 3/4", Ø25 × 1/2", Ø25 × 3/4", Ø32 × 3/4" and Ø32 × 1". The body is moulded from prime-grade polypropylene random copolymer (PP-R, type 3) supplied by leading polymer producers. It is designed to fuse with THERMALINO PP-R pipes, giving a homogeneous joint and a long service life. The threaded insert is CW617N brass, a European-standard grade with a lead content below 2.2 %. The fitting complies with EN ISO 15874-3 and is rated PN25, with an operating temperature of 70 °C and a maximum of 95 °C. The permissible pressure at each temperature is given in the technical data sheet. The adaptor is used in hot and cold water supply and in heating installations, wherever a PP-R line must end at a tap connector, valve, water meter, water heater or another male-threaded fitting. The socket is joined to the pipe with a socket fusion tool, using the heating, joining and cooling times for the pipe size. The male part is then screwed into the brass thread with a thread sealant suited to the medium and temperature. Hold the fitting while you tighten so that the torque does not load the fused joint.

Questions
- How do I join a new PP-R hot water line to an existing steel or brass fitting that has a male thread?
- A PPR female adaptor is the fitting that joins a PP-R line to a male-threaded metal part. The PP-R socket is fused to the pipe, and the metal part screws into the brass female BSP parallel (G) thread, sealed with a thread sealant suited to hot water. The adaptor is rated PN25, with an operating temperature of 70 °C and a maximum of 95 °C.
- Is it bad practice to cut a thread on the end of a PP-R pipe and screw a valve directly onto it?
- Yes. A PP-R pipe should not be threaded. Use a threaded transition fitting such as the PPR female adaptor instead. Cutting a thread removes wall thickness and leaves notches that weaken the pipe under pressure and heat. With the adaptor, the pipe stays whole inside a fused socket and the thread is carried by a CW617N brass insert.
- Does FIP mean the same as the female thread on a PPR female adaptor, and will an NPT male fitting fit it?
- No. FIP (female iron pipe) is the North American term for a female NPT tapered thread, while the PPR female adaptor has a female BSP parallel (G) thread. The two thread forms are different, so the adaptor should be paired with male BSP-threaded parts. An NPT component needs a suitable thread adaptor.
- What does a PPR female adaptor do in a plumbing system, and how is it different from a plain PPR coupling?
- A PPR female adaptor joins a PP-R pipe to a threaded metal part. A plain PPR coupling only joins two PP-R pipes. One end of the adaptor is a socket that fuses to the pipe. The other end is a female BSP thread in a brass insert that takes a tap connector, valve, meter or other male-threaded part.
- Which PPR female adaptor do I need to connect a 3/4 inch valve to a 20 mm or 25 mm PP-R water pipe?
- The PPR female adaptor comes with a 3/4" female thread for Ø20, Ø25 and Ø32 mm pipe, so choose the version that matches your pipe's outside diameter. In trade use, Ø20 mm PP-R pipe is often called 1/2", Ø25 mm 3/4" and Ø32 mm 1". The range also includes 1/2" threads for Ø20 and Ø25 mm pipe and a 1" thread for Ø32 mm pipe.
- Can a PN25 PPR female adaptor be used on radiator connections in a central heating system that runs at high flow temperatures?
- Yes, the PN25 PPR female adaptor can be used in central heating, with an operating temperature of 70 °C and a maximum of 95 °C. It complies with EN ISO 15874-3. The allowable pressure falls as temperature rises, so check the pressure at your system temperature in the technical data sheet.
