PPR Male adaptor
The brass end has a BSP parallel (G) thread. It screws into a female BSP-threaded fitting and does not fit NPT threads. A parallel thread does not seal on its flanks alone, so the joint is sealed with a flat gasket against the shoulder or with a thread sealing material suitable for the medium and temperature.

Description and application
The PPR male adaptor is a PP-R fitting with a socket-fusion end and a CW617N brass male thread (BSP parallel, G). It joins a PP-R pipe to a valve, meter, appliance connection or metal fitting with a female thread. It is rated PN25 to EN ISO 15874-3, with an operating temperature of 70 °C and a maximum of 95 °C.
The PPR male adaptor connects a PP-R pipe to any component with a female BSP thread. One end is a PP-R socket that is fused onto the pipe. The other is a brass insert with an external BSP parallel (G) thread. It belongs to the Eternal line of THERMALINO PPR fittings with brass and comes in six sizes, from Ø20x1/2" to Ø32x1". Each size gives the pipe diameter in millimetres followed by the thread size in inches. The body is PP-R (polypropylene random copolymer, type 3) made from prime-grade raw material. The threaded insert is CW617N brass and is moulded into the body. The fitting conforms to EN ISO 15874-3 and is rated PN25, with an operating temperature of 70 °C and a maximum temperature of 95 °C. Pressure ratings at other temperatures and over the service life are given in the technical data sheet. The socket is designed to fuse with THERMALINO PP-R pipes for a uniform weld and a long service life. It is used in hot and cold water installations and in heating systems, wherever a PP-R line meets a threaded part: valves, water meters, water heater and boiler connections, manifolds, pumps or existing steel pipework. In the trade it is also called a PPR male adapter or a PPR male socket. The socket end is joined by socket fusion. The pipe and the fitting are heated on a fusion tool and pushed together to the full socket depth, and once cooled the joint is permanent. The threaded end is then screwed into the mating female thread and sealed in a way that suits a parallel thread.

Questions
- What is a PPR male adaptor and where is it used in a hot and cold water installation in a building?
- A PPR male adaptor is a fitting with a PP-R socket for fusion on one end and a brass male thread on the other, and it is used where a PP-R pipe connects to a threaded component. Typical connection points are valves, water meters, manifolds and water heater connections. The THERMALINO adaptor has a CW617N brass BSP parallel (G) thread, is rated PN25 to EN ISO 15874-3, and has an operating temperature of 70 °C and a maximum of 95 °C.
- Can a PP-R plastic water pipe be threaded directly, or do I need a male adaptor to connect it to a threaded valve?
- A PP-R pipe is not threaded. It is joined to threaded valves and fittings through a PPR male adaptor or a female-threaded PP-R fitting. The adaptor's socket is fused onto the pipe, and the thread is carried by its CW617N brass insert, not by the plastic. This keeps the pipe wall intact and gives a metal thread for the threaded joint.
- How do I join an old galvanised iron water pipe to new PP-R pipe when renovating the plumbing in a house?
- An iron pipe is usually joined to a PP-R pipe with a PPR male adaptor. The adaptor is fused onto the PP-R pipe, and its brass male thread is screwed into a female-threaded fitting on the iron line. The adaptor has a BSP parallel (G) thread, so the iron fitting must have a matching BSP female thread, not NPT. Because the line carries mains pressure, a qualified installer should do the work and test the joint before use.
- Which PPR male adaptor size do I need to connect a 25 mm PP-R pipe to a valve with a 3/4 inch female thread?
- For a 25 mm PP-R pipe and a 3/4 inch female thread, the right PPR male adaptor is Ø25x3/4". The size is given as the pipe's outside diameter in millimetres followed by the thread size in inches. The range covers Ø20x1/2", Ø20x3/4", Ø25x1/2", Ø25x3/4", Ø32x3/4" and Ø32x1". So a PPR male adaptor 1/2 is available for 20 mm and 25 mm pipe.
- Can a PPR male adaptor be reused after it has been fused to a pipe and later taken out of the system?
- No. The fused end of a PPR male adaptor cannot be reused, because socket fusion makes the pipe and fitting one piece. The threaded end can be unscrewed from its mating fitting, but the socket cannot be separated from the pipe. If the joint has to be changed, the pipe is cut and a new adaptor is fused on.
