PPR Reduction coupling f/f
Both ends of this reduction coupling are female fusion sockets, so the larger and the smaller PP-R pipe are each socket-fused directly into it, with no extra spigot fitting in between. Each end is heated with the heating tool of its own pipe diameter.

Description and application
The THERMALINO PPR reducer (Reduction coupling f/f) is a PP-R socket-fusion fitting that joins two PP-R pipes of different diameters in a straight line, in sizes Ø25x20, Ø32x20 and Ø32x25. It is rated PN25 to EN ISO 15874-3, for hot and cold water at an operating temperature of 70 °C, maximum 95 °C.
The PPR Reduction coupling f/f from the Eternal line is a PPR reducer that connects a larger PP-R pipe to a smaller one in a straight run, for example where a main line steps down to a branch. Both ends are fusion sockets, so each pipe is inserted and welded directly into the fitting. It is available in Ø25x20, Ø32x20 and Ø32x25, in white, grey and green. The fitting is made of PP-R, from prime-grade polypropylene random copolymer (type 3) raw material, and conforms to EN ISO 15874-3, the standard for polypropylene fittings in hot and cold water installations. It is rated PN25, with an operating temperature of 70 °C and a maximum temperature of 95 °C. Permissible pressure at a given temperature and service life are given in the technical data sheet. The raw material is chosen for a uniform weld with THERMALINO PP-R pipes and for long service life in hot water. This makes the reducer socket suitable for drinking water and domestic hot water distribution, radiator heating connections, chilled water lines and, subject to the data sheet limits, industrial lines such as compressed air or process water. Installation is by socket fusion. The pipe ends and the two sockets are heated together on a fusion machine fitted with the heating tools of the matching diameters, then joined to form a homogeneous joint with no threads, seals or adhesive. Welding should be done by a qualified installer following the fusion parameters in the technical data sheet.

Questions
- What does a PPR reducer coupling do in a hot and cold water installation, and when is a reducing fitting needed on site?
- A PPR reducer coupling joins two PP-R pipes of different diameters in a straight line, for example where a main supply line steps down to a smaller branch to a bathroom or kitchen. The THERMALINO PPR Reduction coupling f/f has a fusion socket on both ends and is available in Ø25x20, Ø32x20 and Ø32x25, so both pipes are welded directly into the fitting.
- How do I read a PPR reducer size such as Ø32x20 when matching it to the pipes in a residential heating installation?
- The size of a THERMALINO PPR reducer gives the outside diameters of the two pipes it connects: a Ø32x20 fitting takes a Ø32 pipe on one end and a Ø20 pipe on the other. PP-R pipes are sized by outside diameter, so measure the outside of the pipe, not the bore. The range covers Ø25x20, Ø32x20 and Ø32x25.
- How is a PPR reducer socket joined to PP-R pipes in a new apartment building, and what equipment does the installer need?
- A PPR reducer socket is joined by socket fusion, using a PP-R fusion machine fitted with heating tools for both diameters of the fitting. The pipe ends and the sockets are heated together and pushed into each other to form a homogeneous joint with no threads, seals or adhesive. Heating times and insertion depths are in the technical data sheet, and the welding is done by a qualified installer.
- Can a PN25 PPR reducer be used on domestic hot water and radiator heating lines, and which temperature limits apply?
- Yes, the THERMALINO PPR Reduction coupling f/f is rated PN25 to EN ISO 15874-3 and is intended for hot and cold water, with an operating temperature of 70 °C and a maximum temperature of 95 °C. The allowable pressure falls as the temperature rises, and the pressure class of the pipe also limits the system, so check the pressure and temperature table in the technical data sheet.
- What does PPR mean in plumbing, and what is the material of this reducer fitting used for besides drinking water?
- PPR stands for polypropylene random copolymer (PP-R, type 3), the material of the THERMALINO PPR reducer. Besides drinking water and heating, PP-R fittings are used in chilled water, compressed air, irrigation and some process lines; suitability for a medium other than water depends on the chemical resistance table and the pressure and temperature limits in the technical data sheet.
