PPR Transition union male
The brass end has a BSP parallel (G) male thread, so it mates with female G (BSP) threads on valves, fittings and equipment. It does not fit NPT threads. Check the thread of the mating part before you choose the size.

Description and application
The THERMALINO PPR male union joins PP-R pipe to a female-threaded metal fitting, valve or appliance. It has a socket-fusion PP-R end and a detachable CW617N brass union with a BSP parallel (G) male thread, so the connection can be opened again for maintenance or replacement.
The THERMALINO PPR male union, from the Eternal line, is a transition fitting between PP-R pipework and threaded metal parts. One end is a PP-R socket that is fused onto the pipe. The other end is a CW617N brass male thread with a BSP parallel (G) profile. A union between the two lets the metal side come apart without cutting the pipe. The body is made of PP-R to EN ISO 15874-3 and rated PN20. The operating temperature is 70 °C and the maximum temperature is 95 °C, so it is suitable for both hot and cold water lines. It is socket-fused with the same welding tools and procedure as THERMALINO PP-R pipes. The pressure ratings at each temperature and the service-life tables are in the technical data sheet. Because the union can be opened, the fitting suits connections that may need to change or come off later. Typical examples are towel radiators, expansion vessels, threaded valves and pressure reducing valves. It also keeps joints that may need repair easy to reach. It is used in drinking water and heating installations in homes, hotels, hospitals and other buildings, and to join new PP-R pipework to existing threaded steel or copper installations. The male union comes in sizes from Ø20x1/2" to Ø75x2.1/2", in white, grey and green. The PP-R end is fused first. The installer then seals the brass thread into the female G thread of the mating part, using a sealing method suited to parallel threads.

Questions
- What is a PPR male union and where is it used in a hot and cold water installation?
- A PPR male union is a transition fitting that joins PP-R pipe to a female-threaded metal part through a union that can be opened later. On the THERMALINO PPR male union, the PP-R end is socket-fused onto the pipe and the brass end is a CW617N male thread, BSP parallel (G). It is rated PN20 to EN ISO 15874-3, with an operating temperature of 70 °C and a maximum of 95 °C, so it can be used on both hot and cold lines.
- When should I use a male union instead of a fixed threaded adaptor on PP-R pipework in a building?
- A PPR male union is the right choice wherever the threaded connection may have to be opened again, because its brass part comes apart at the union without cutting or re-welding the pipe. Typical places are towel radiators, expansion vessels, valves and equipment that may be replaced, and joints that should stay easy to reach for repair. A fixed adaptor suits connections that are not expected to come apart.
- Can a UK pressure reducing valve with BSP threaded ports be fitted to PPR pipe using a male union?
- Yes. A pressure reducing valve with female BSP (G) ports can be connected to PP-R pipe with the THERMALINO PPR male union, because its brass end carries a BSP parallel (G) male thread. Choose the size by the pipe diameter and the valve thread, for example Ø20x1/2" or Ø25x3/4". The union lets the valve come out later for servicing. A valve with compression ends for copper needs a different transition. The valve sits on a pressurised supply, so a qualified installer should fit it.
- How do I join a PP-R plastic pipe to a metal pipe or threaded fitting in a plumbing system?
- A PP-R pipe is joined to metal with a transition fitting such as the THERMALINO PPR male union, which has a fusion socket on one side and a brass thread on the other. The PP-R end is socket-fused to the pipe with a PP-R welding tool. The CW617N brass BSP parallel (G) male thread then screws into the female thread of the metal pipe, valve or fitting, sealed in a way suited to parallel threads. The union lets the joint be taken apart later without disturbing the plastic side.
- Which PP-R pipe diameter goes with a 1 inch male union thread when connecting to existing metal pipework?
- PP-R pipe is sized by its outside diameter in millimetres, so a 1 inch thread does not match a single pipe size. The THERMALINO PPR male union with a 1" BSP thread comes in Ø25x1" and Ø32x1". Pick the version that matches the diameter of the PP-R pipe in the line. The full range runs from Ø20x1/2" to Ø75x2.1/2".
