PPR Wallplate elbow female

1/2" BSP parallel (G) female thread for tap connections

The brass insert carries a BSP parallel (G) female thread, so it takes taps, valves and fittings with a matching 1/2" BSP male thread. Tapered NPT threads are a different standard and are not used with this outlet.

Description and application

The THERMALINO PPR wall plate elbow is a 90° PP-R fitting with a 1/2" BSP female brass thread that joins a Ø20 or Ø25 mm PP-R pipe to a tap or valve and holds the outlet firmly on a masonry or drywall wall. Rated PN25, it suits hot and cold water lines at an operating temperature of 70 °C, maximum 95 °C.

The PPR wall plate elbow from the THERMALINO Eternal line is a 90° fitting that ends a PP-R water line at a tap point. One end is a socket fusion joint for PP-R pipe; the other is a brass insert with a 1/2" BSP parallel (G) female thread for the tap, valve or connector. Its integrated wall plate lets the installer fix the outlet to a masonry wall or a drywall frame, so the tap sits square, at the intended height and in line with the finished wall surface. The body is made of PP-R, prime-grade polypropylene random copolymer (type 3), and the threaded insert is CW617N brass with a lead content below 2.2%. The fitting conforms to EN ISO 15874-3 and is rated PN25, with an operating temperature of 70 °C and a maximum of 95 °C, which makes it suitable for both hot and cold water lines. It is available for Ø20 mm and Ø25 mm pipe, each with a 1/2" outlet, in white, grey and green. The pipe end is joined by socket fusion: pipe and fitting are heated together on a PP-R welding tool and pushed together, forming one homogeneous joint. The fitting fuses reliably with THERMALINO PP-R pipes of the same diameter, giving a long service life. The elbow is welded and fixed before the wall is closed. Once the wall is finished, the tap is screwed into the brass thread, sealed with PTFE tape or a thread sealant approved for drinking water. Welding times and pressure ratings at each temperature are given in the technical data sheet.

Questions

What is a PPR wall plate elbow, and why do plumbers use it at tap points in bathrooms and kitchens?
A PPR wall plate elbow is a 90° PP-R fitting that ends a water line in a fixed 1/2" female thread, with a plate that holds the tap outlet firmly on the wall. One end is welded to the PP-R pipe by socket fusion; the other is a CW617N brass insert with a BSP parallel (G) thread for the tap or valve. Because the plate is fixed to the wall or a drywall frame, the outlet cannot turn or move when the tap is tightened or used.
Which taps and valves fit the 1/2 inch female thread of a PPR wall plate elbow: BSP or NPT threads?
The PPR wall plate elbow takes taps and valves with a 1/2" BSP male thread, because its brass insert is threaded BSP parallel (G). BSP parallel is also known as gas thread. Tapered NPT threads are a different standard and should not be screwed into this outlet. The thread is sealed with PTFE tape or a thread sealant approved for drinking water; hemp is not recommended on brass inserts in plastic fittings, because it swells when it absorbs water.
Can a PPR wall plate elbow be used on the hot water line to a shower mixer in a residential building?
Yes, the THERMALINO PPR wall plate elbow is rated PN25 and is suitable for hot and cold water lines. Its operating temperature is 70 °C, with a maximum of 95 °C, and it conforms to EN ISO 15874-3. The permissible pressure falls as the temperature rises, so the pressure at a given temperature and service life should be checked in the technical data sheet.
Should I choose the Ø20 mm or Ø25 mm PPR wall plate elbow for a tap point in an apartment plumbing system?
The PPR wall plate elbow size is chosen to match the outside diameter of the PP-R pipe that feeds the tap point: Ø20x1/2" for 20 mm pipe and Ø25x1/2" for 25 mm pipe. Both sizes have the same 1/2" BSP female outlet, so the same taps and valves fit either one. Pipe sizing depends on the flow and the number of outlets on the line and is set in the system design.
How is a PPR wall plate elbow installed in a drywall partition so that the tap outlet stays level and aligned?
A PPR wall plate elbow is welded to the pipe by socket fusion and its plate is fixed to the wall or to the drywall frame or mounting rail before the board is closed. Fixing the plate keeps the outlet at the planned height, square to the wall and level with the finished surface. For a wall-mounted mixer, two elbows are fixed at the centre distance the mixer needs. The tap is fitted only after tiling, once the line has been pressure-tested by the installer.
